Gabrial James is a solo artist originally from Grand Rapids, now living in Spring Lake. He got his start in music at the age of 10, enrolling in St. Cecilia Music Society of Grand Rapids under renowned conductor and professor of music, Anton Armstrong. St. Cecilia provided him the opportunity to perform with the Grand Rapids, Detroit, and Chicago symphonies, seasonal concerts as well as numerous collaborations with other local choirs and musical outfits. From 2003-2010, he hosted one of the longest running open mic nights in west Michigan at Billy’s Lounge in the Eastown district of Grand Rapids. His dream of playing music for a living has since become reality, performing frequently all over the state of Michigan. His style of music pulls from several genres including classic and folk rock, country and bluegrass, soul and blues.
